The Power of Informal Governance
Even if you don't have the formalized board of directors or formalized corporate governance, the informal is so powerful. So many boards get stilted because the venture capitalists or the private equity has to have this role and they've got a big ego versus just sitting down. Now the one thing I would say is even if you have an informal board of advisors, make it a formal reporting process. The discipline as a CEO to have to go and tell somebody about your strategy and defend it can be really important milestone.
