The Importance of Priestly Celibacy

The idea of priestly celibacy is not a doctrine, it's a discipline. Part of the reason for which clerical celbacy is insisted upon is because of the way in which it makes God near. And our Lord comes as a bridegroom in search of his church - he makes spotless without wrinkle or stain. So that's a great responsibility and it's also part of why clerical abuse can be so grave.
