The Value of Age Mixing
In hunter-gatherer bands and a Sudbury Valley School, when you mix children of all different ages together, you see something entirely different. There's no pride in feeling that you're better than an eight-year-old. It's enjoying one another. You may be better at almost anything than this 8-year-olds if you're the 16-year- old but you want to play with that eight- year-old. I also think that it's part of our human nature, especially as we become teenagers, who want to learn how to be fathers and mothers. That's natural. So there's something then about little kids being in the environment that brings out the nurturing
