I really do think Alcibiades is supposed to be read in juxtaposition with Diatima speech. I like the notion of a group session of a group analysis in terms of the group of privileged men. There's this tension for a kind of wholeness, whether it be in Aristophanes' kind of comedic sense or in Socrates' dialectic through his followers. Eros is the desire to be a being without any contingent, a current desires.
