How to Defend Your Approach to Peer Review

Having an exciting title does tend to trigger the thought that you're not doing something really academic. I think it was a harder discussion around MOOCs when they first came out than any of my science of pop culture or science of superheroes. My real interest in MOOCs was more about outreach than course credit and when I framed it that way people were like okay I get that as well. But a lot of it is just I'm very lucky. I have colleagues who are willing to ask me questions to figure out what I'm doing"
