The Unthinkable

Many of you might not know this, but I'm actually a school shooting survivor. When she was actually a student at Discovery Middle School in Alabama in 2010. And there are other journalists who've also been honest about how close they are to the story and that's been quite striking and it's definitely stayed with me. If your student witnessed the unthinkable today, just be very gentle with them and let them talk when they're ready because the shock that they're going to be feeling coming home is the best.
