The Importance of Owning Strategic Ambiguity Space

When it comes to strategic discovery work, I believe that the ideal situation is that researchers are owning that space. So how do you balance out the responsibilities of a researcher with those of a skilled PM who can do initial discovery work? How do you not step on each other's toes and how do you define who owns what?
