What's Going on in the UMC?
In 1972, the United Methodist Church passed a part of its Book of Discipline that said homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching. There was nothing even in our church law about same-sex marriage before then. The progressive wing left and formed their own denomination called the Global Methodist Church. In 2019, there was something that was passed called a Disaffiliation Clause where a church could leave the UMC.
