Livy was born into a wealthy family in florence. His father, bernardo, never practised as a lawyer and owed money to the city. He may have been illegitimate but that didn't affect his political or professional life. Livy is almost certainly due to his father's fondness for livy from an early age. And that will affect later and most important writers.
