The debt sealing currently is at 28 and a half trillion dollars. The gross amount, six point one trillion dollars, is owned by federal government agencies. Foreign entities own seven trillion dollars of the national debt. All those amounts are assets that individuals, businesses, governments, pension plants own. It's their asset, even though it's the debt.
