Atawalpa's Promise to the Spanish
Atawalpa was the only remaining inca prince with a strong claim to the throne. In just a matter of days, he had actually turned this situation quite heav yin his favor. Under the guise of sending out messengers to gather gold, he could get word out to all corners of his empire. Atawalpa's promise also ensured that they would stay in the relatively unimportant town of cahamarca and wait for their gold. The best part of the deal was the gold that poured in every day to fill that room in caha marca didn't even belong to him.
