It's one of the first films to bring humour into horror. You know, there were funny moments in Dracula and Frankenstein, intentionally so. But this is the one where it's a full-on comedy. And what brilliant job James Whale does already in setting up the geography of this house. So much of it is about the house. It really brings that idea of the scary house to the spotlight. People have been trying to top it ever since and mostly failing to be honest.
