The Kinder Hook Plates
A group of people decided to try and trick Joseph Smith. They dug a big hole in the ground, they buried some plates, then they filled it over. The church newspaper noted that the Kinder Hook plates would undoubtedly prove the authenticity of the Book of Mormon. In 1980, they finally did blast testing on the one plate that they found. And the method of how the plates were created matched perfectly with how the person that claimed it was a hoax said it was.
