Introduction
In July 2021, around seven months before the invasion of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin published an essay entitled On the Historical Unity of Russia and Ukraine. He argued that the people of the two countries share a common history and identity. To many, these people known as the Rus are synonymous with the Vikings, but that's not entirely accurate either. We're going to be hearing back from two experts who have taken part in Gone Medieval and other HistoryHit interviews before.
