The Irish Data Protection Commission has now got involved. It's significant because many Silicon Valley firms have their European headquarters in Ireland for tax purposes mainly but as a result that's given that particular member state incredible clout and power and access. That said we shouldn't limit this just to Ireland because there's the European Commission which is going to have its own view. Germany might get involved so I think it's very early days for this story. And finally what should we take away from this as consumers? We might not necessarily realise that our data is being scraped in this way. So where do we stand in all this as users?
