What Is Quanza?

Quanza is a pan-African holiday, meaning that it's meant to unite people of African descent. The name Quanza comes from the Swahili phrase, Matumba Yakuza, which means first fruits. It was introduced in 1966 by Dr. Malana Karanga, a professor in and chair of the Department of Black Studies at California State University.
