Why God Allows Bad Things to Happen

As a parent, there have been many times when I have wanted to help my kids and they were in a bad fix. "I just let them suffer through it because I wanted something good for them on the backside" The idea of eternity does matter when it comes to the problem of evil. Why does it seem like non-Christians do better than Christians you mean?
