A Study of the Osu-Twa Relationship

There were no special terms for long-distance friends so there's other groups like the Maasai who are also in Tanzania who have what's called the Osu-twa relationship which literally translates in their language to umbilical cord. These people that establish relationships with people from other villages use skin terminology to refer to them sometimes. They would use fictive kin occasionally but again nothing nothing patterned it's an interesting question exactly how these sorts of cooperative relationships maps onto each other.
