I think there is a basic tension about the fact that the chinese public is very, very focused on the idea that the outside world is a source of infection and disease and chaos. And so i think that its inevitably a slight dampness. This this should be an event for a country to shine. I think what that tells you is that if you look at the list of countries that are doing some form of diplomatic boycoss the most obvious ones are america and their closest anglo saxon allies. It's just another milestone on that long journey towards the division of the world into camps who take a very different view of china's rise.
