The Uplift Story and the Doctor Dolittle Version
Both stories are about interfering with non human animals, rihbby giving them uplifting and teanity. Then there's the other version of this story, which is where there's somebody who suddenly starts understanding things that animals have been saying all along but we just couldn't understand them. And so those are kind of the two poles i see. One is uplifting, turning the animals into people more like us. The other is people learning to understand animals for their own good.
