William Barries Columbani was perhaps the most mysterious of all the people involved in this case. He and Diane seemed to be friends, but when she got out from bail he moved down to Los Angeles as well. She wrote a couple of suicide notes thanking him for being a good friend. And then on March 8th, she left that hotel, went around the corner,. booked into what was then a very nice hotel there. But she only booked in for the night because she wanted some privacy anyway. The trial was in April. She'd made it quite clear she wasn't looking forward to the trials. It's tragic in every way that you can imagine.
