The Theory of Change That Made Conditions Worse
If education wasn't predominantly a feminized field, right? The vast majority of teachers are women. And similarly, these corporate theories of change are really rooted in a classist and highly gendered understanding of education. It presumes that school principals got into those jobs so that they could close their doors and smoke cigars and maybe play Tetris on their computers. None of this is true. We know from research that the primary motivator of educators is the desire to make a difference.
