Russell Lefied was enlisted to serve as a conservator to the two girls and oversee the millions they received in their case. Russell appears to have used the girl's accounts as a personal reserve from which he and Ellic gave themselves generous loans according to sources with knowledge of their case. Though Russell was careful to charge himself and Ellic interest, the rates were around 2.5% and 3.25% respectively. We don't know yet whether those loans were fully paid off.
