The Urim and Thumim Were a Single Gem

Nowhere does the old testament state how the urim in thumim were used. If masoretic vocalization of urim in tumim is accepted as evidence descriptive of this oracular means, light could conceivably have been given them. May thus have been a single gem. A special sign of verification associated with the oriman thamim would not have been out of place in an age when god more often gave miraculous, authenticating signs. But we've seen significant evidence already that the only two cases where that clear happens are outliers that can't be relied upon to tell us anything about the uriman thami.
