The Carbon Footprint of a Working Petrol Car
Each mile in an EV saves you a little over 10p compared to a mile in a petrol. Switching his working petrol car for a new EV would roughly double his annual carbon footprint. If you want those savings to cover the cost of a new electric coarser, you're looking at needing to drive almost 300,000 miles. Or if I give you that in terms of an average annual mileage of approximately 7,000 miles, you need to be driving for more than 40 years. But look, OK, so I haven't factored in the savings that you're going to make on road tax each year in the EV or maintenance costs. And EVs seem to keep their value very well
