The Denial of Death and Kindness in the Movie

The film is based on the work of Ernest Becker who argues that we try to engage in symbolical immortality through love, family and art. The character calm has a revelation at the end about how kindness isn't so much an obstacle to transcendence but it's actually a sort of subtle quiet facilitator of it. He does really feel bad about Jenny dying the donkey yeah which is an accident but you know he feels bad about it. And there's something in like that gesture obviously that touches calm in a way that I think kind of transforms maybe Podrick because the weird thing is it's not like calm can have the ability to tolerate somebody else.
