Stephen King has done that in a lot of his films. It's all about, you know, this sort of haunted domicile somewhere. If I was going to go watch a 60s Gothic tonight, I'd probably er towards the Hammer films. Although not their remake of the old dark house, which is bloody awful and well worth avoiding.
