Confucius's Vision of Society
Confucius's vision of society, as you said, is one which weare all bound together in a highly sort of structured way and a hierarchical way. And so when the confucians are addressing family, for example, i think a lot of what they have to say is very valuable. But it's also within a context where heaven forbid you're somebody's daughter in law, ain't because you're really at the bottom of the ladder if you are. So i don't think that confucianism, in that strictly hierarchical sense, is a very promising rout for thinking about this but i do think that the pattern where we look to what kinds of social pathways we have gives
