What's Behind Your Never Mind?
I think the backbone of that music is in jazz and folk. There are a lot of songs that would never be good as poems, but for me it comes from a similar place. A very simple phrase can be quite boring in a straight poem right off the page, but when communicated in the context of a larger piece can be very powerful. So I strive for a bit more simplicity in my lyric writing than I do in my straight poetry,. But there are, but my influences come in all directions. From everywhere is coverage the obvious tie between your two lives."
