CHAPTER

The Story of the Wheelwright Family in Massachusetts

Catherine hutchinson married a prosperous merchant in boston named robert nanny. But after eight years of this very unhappy marriage, she successfully sued for divorce. She then remarried to another merchant named edward naylor and they had two daughters. He was later banished from the colony because he threw objects at his wife or pushed children down stairs. Catherine outlived all her children into old age,. ownership of the house on anne street reverted back to her, and she lived there until she died at the age of 85 in 17 16. So she had lived a pretty remarkable, unusual and probably in some ways, controversial life as a self supporting woman as a divorced woman.
