The Firstborn Son of God's Creation
Christ is presented as integral to the origin, constitution and destiny of god's creation in a manner that implies his divine identity. In this he is doing something very similar to what the gospel of john does in its first chapter. Christ isn't just part of the creation. He is the one through whom all was made. The entirety of the unitary act of creation, both bringng it into and sustaining it within being, is related to his agency.
