How to Monitor Your Athletes for Recovery

I encourage them to have an ongoing conversation with me. If they feel like they're a little bit worn down, let me know immediately. We'll work out if we need to back off a little bit and maybe throw in more recovery time or rest time. I usually force them to do less running in the couple of weeks after a race than they might want to. But it's definitely an area that lots of people need guidance along the way throughout it.
