Is There a Black Man Ringing the Bell?

Rida: The very first poem establishes the fact that at the university of virginia, there was a man. He was born into slavery on the day that thomas jefferson died. For years, he was the bell ringer in the campus tower. And what we discover in reading this poem is that his ringing of the bell keeps the time. His name was henry martin. I am going to ask read a dove to read this poem because i think it's profound and beautiful and very, very moving.
