The Origins of Voodoo

Haitian voodoo is characterized by a belief in a pantheon of spirits known as Loa. In Haiti, they often refer to him as Bong-dyu, which in French just means the good God. Most experts believe that the West African variant of the religion tends to resemble pre-contact African beliefs more than any other variety of voodoo.
