The Importance of Seniority in Career Growth

It's much easier to get more responsibility at a smaller company. Seniority is not horizontally transferable, so just because you've climbed up three rungs on one ladder doesn't mean that you can hop over to the neighboring ladder and continue to be effective. Don't believe people when they tell you they're going to hire you and then you can advance. Look them in the eyes and say, you're lying. They might actually happen.
