The Confucian Philosophy of Grief

Early chinese philosophers made much of the struggles of grief. The confucians are eager to understand how such experiences can be unfolded into a good life. Love of others will induce worry and it will induce grief, writes wen hate. These are bad emotions but issue from values we cannot abandon if we are to achieve lives rich in love and companionship with others.
