Clara Schumann: The Complete Work for Piano Solo

The four characteristic pieces for solo piano were written when Clara was just 16 years old. Frederick Chopin said he was enchanted with the four pieces and asked for a copy of the score. The piece is full of a young composer's energy, and also of a fire that much of Clara's later music does not possess. It seems to be in the mood of much of the bravura virtuoso music at the time. There's something of Barrio's a symphony-fantastic in this movement, which is interesting because later on in life Clara would assertively denounce music like it.
