I think that's how I got the group of friends that I have now. That was my first post college group of friends. If you want to make friends, join something repeated over time rather than something went off. Don't go to one happy hour. Join a professional development club where you're going to see people more regularly. Go to that language class because we have this unconscious tendency to like things that are familiar.
