The focus behind this variety was moving from quantity to quality. P.A.U had played a major role during green revolution in 1970s when our country wasn't having enough food. But now that saturation level has been reached, we don't anymore need any high yielding varieties. What we need is nutritional security. And P.a.U has taken the first step towards it by developing a P.B.W.R.S.1 which doesn't focus on quantity of the grains but on their quality.
