The History of Athens
Many ancient copies of this have been found, but the most famous is the 10 feet high example called the Athena of Elechery. It was sold to the French though, and so now it resides in the Louvre Museum in Paris. Pliny also mentioned a contest that took place for a statue of a bronze Amazon warrior that was to be dedicated at the Temple of Artemis and Ephesus. Several Roman statues of an Amazon warrior have been identified by some scholars as being copies of the works of polyclitis, Phidius or Cressilus. One in particular was discovered in Rome, near the Baths of Diocletian, and now resides in the Capitoline Museum.
