"I was aware of God and always believed in God, but didn't actually really know him," she says. "It wasn't really until I got in trouble that I've sort of investigated who God was really" She had to get tested for meningitis after kissing a boy on New Year's Eve at the age of 18. The experience left her with an intense sense of self-doubt about whether or not he was real.
