Herbert Hoover and the Great Depression

The Mississippi flood of 1927 was one of the worst natural disasters in American history. And tens of thousands of square miles of land was flooded and hundreds of thousands of people were driven from their homes. Many of those people, actually one estimate suggests that 90% of those people were black. They typically were forced into basically cleaning up the area by armed overseers who if they did not work hard enough for long than would would whip them and beat them and even sometimes kill them as if they were enslaved.
