LDS Charities Australia's Tax Investigation
Spencer: The church is double dipping on their tax exempt donations. They take a tax deduction on US ties and then they take them into Australia to allow Australian members with the same money from the US ties to them taking a deduction. And that's against Australia tax law. It seems as though LDS charities Australia just is acting as a pass-through entity and a shell company of sorts. You're supposed to be a publicly visible entity in order to be, inorder to be tax deductible.
