Do You Have a Dural Puncture Headache?
The idea here would be if you were worried that this woman is someone you really wouldn't want to try to intubate, you might do this technique because then you would know if your catheter worked. The same risk as the CSE but potentially more so than just a pure epidural. If you puncture the Dura knowingly, even if it's with a 27-gauge needle, you're going to have an incidence of post-dural puncture headache.
