Ezekiel's Word for Idols
The word he uses for idols there, I mean he'll use it 39 times in his book but it hardly appears anywhere else in the Old Testament. Some people have suggested that it has some kind of linkage to sheep droppings. So it's like more of a dirtier, cruder, corser kind of word to attach to idols. He's using some strong language here. Maybe the Ezekiel bread is getting to him. But in verse 8, God does make this promise: Yet will I leave a remnant that ye may have some that shall escape the sword among the nations when ye shall be scattered through the countries. How's that for pity?
