This century's long process of christian conquests in iberia posed a number of difficult new legal questions for moslem jurists. Was it legitimate for moslems to remain in their homes and become christian subjects? Or were they obligated to emigrate to some moslem territory? And if they stayed, what would that mean? Was it possible to live a truly moslem life without moslem rule? The advent of these questions at this this historical juncture, was all the more interesting because juri had so little precedent to rely on trying to answer them.
