History of the Red Stocking Movement
In 19 70, the red stocking movement started demanding equal rights for women. The name actually came from denmark, was the red stocking is and i think you know, the red colar, it it means that there is something radical there isa need for change. This is a radical movement. We want to change society. And we had to a big roll in the women strike in 19 75 - which in icelandic it was not called the strike, but a woman's day off. It has been estimated that up to 90 per centf of women took part in this dis action all over the country.
