The Dangers of Setting Russia Up as a Straw Man

I think there's a kind of ill-concealed glee in many quarters that, ah, it's back. It's one of the things that bothers me is the way in which we are now setting Russia up as a straw man. NATO now has a new kind of willpower to defend its own territory if Russia attacks. The likelihood of Russia attacking NATO is pretty well banishing these small threats.
