Oral Surgeons - What Do They Do for Anesthesia?
Oral surgeons have a dedicated separate anesthesia rotation of at least six months where they learn how to do general anesthesia. Some oral surgeons will have another provider typically, a dentist anesthesiologist come in and they might do that for all of their cases. They also sometimes bring in a CRNA to do the anesthesia as well,. Depending on the state, some state CRAs can work independently. Local is their best anesthesia. And they're relying mostly on that.
