The Importance of Government Investment in AI
One thing that's quite notable about this new generation of AI at least is just how disconnected it is from any government involvement. I don't think it is too late for the government to do to play a more central role in the creation and deployment of these systems. But funding contingent on certain rules particularly designed to promote competition would be a very appropriate role in my view.
